Welcome to The STEM Sessions Podcast. I am your host, Cody Colborn.
A goal here at the STEM Sessions is to talk about STEM in non-STEM settings
- Kind of a way to get a broader audience to listen to a STEM talk without it being billed as a STEM talk
- On Saturday March 1, 2024, I did just that at the Wild Wild West Convention in Tucson, AZ
Wild Wild West Con is a steampunk convention
- I’d call it a small to medium sized convention
- Exhibitor floor could be thoroughly visited in a half hour
- Six rooms were dedicated to panels and talks
- Not sure of the three-day attendance figure, but everyone there was extremely passionate
I really had no idea what to except in terms of how many people would show up to listen to me blather, but I was sure those who did would be bored
- I was proven so very wrong
- When I started, there were 25-30 people in the room
- At the end, there were closer to 50
- And they were all interested and engaged
- I saw only one person doze off
I recorded the talk on my phone, just for my own archival purposes
- But I had such a good time, I want to share it
Thank you to the Wild Wild West Con for having me
- And hopefully we’ll do it again next year
